At South Harrison, we are dedicated to preparing students for success beyond the classroom. Our College & Career Readiness (CCR) Center continues to provide hands-on experiences, career exploration, and valuable connections with local businesses and post-secondary institutions. This past month has been filled with exciting opportunities, helping students take the next steps toward their futures!
Senior Mock Interviews: A Growing Success
One of the most impactful events this month was our Senior Mock Interviews at South Central and Corydon Central. Over 20 local business partners conducted interviews with seniors, offering real-world experience in professional communication. The feedback from our business partners was outstanding—they continue to be impressed by how much stronger our seniors get each year!
Through preparation, students built professional resumes, practiced interview skills, and dressed for success—important steps in preparing for college, careers, and beyond. These experiences ensure our students are workforce-ready with the skills and confidence they need.
Pathway Exploration for 8th & 10th Graders
This month, students at different grade levels took critical steps in their career planning:
8th graders at South Central and Corydon Central explored the Pathway Options available to them as they prepare for high school. Hands-on exposure helps students make informed decisions about which courses to take.
10th graders met with Prosser Career Education Center to get guidance on the Prosser application process, ensuring they are ready for the February 28 deadline.
These moments help students map out their high school experience with a clear vision of their future goals.
Exploring College & Career Options
The CCR Center hosted post-secondary representatives who introduced students to exciting career paths:
Spalding University met with Health Science Pathway students to discuss training and education options beyond high school.
The JB Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville spoke with students about admission requirements, Co-op opportunities, and employment placement in this competitive field.
These opportunities allow students to see real-world applications of their studies and connect with experts in their chosen fields.
Upcoming: College & Career Fair – March 14
Looking ahead, students will have the opportunity to network with colleges, businesses, and career training programs at the College & Career Fair on March 14 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds (9 AM - 1 PM). Organized by the Harrison County Lifelong Learning Center, this event will bring a wide range of career and education resources directly to our students.
Building Excellence in Every Student
The CCR Center continues to provide meaningful, hands-on experiences that prepare students for their next steps, whether in college, trade school, or the workforce. With opportunities to interact with professionals, explore career pathways, and develop job-ready skills, South Harrison students are building excellence in everything they do.
We look forward to seeing their continued success!
